Planes, trains & exhibition halls

I like to think we’re the lucky ones who get the very best part of the day. Whether it’s the quiet commute, watching the sunrise or picking up a fresh coffee along the way – we’re the ones there as dawn breaks and it feels good to have that head start. An advantage that’s always welcomed when you have that big stand to prepare.

And we’ve certainly had some of those this year - it’s been full of surprises, hard work and lots of travel too – in fact we’ve visited over 20 different cities across the world – phew!

We’ve gone from Barcelona to London, docked up in Liverpool, flew to Singapore (or should that be slung) and hopped over to Shanghai. We ate Currywurst in Munich, sampled Guinness in Dublin, romanced our way into Paris and when in Rome…well you know.

It’s safe to say it’s been a fantastic year with great clients and we’ve created top quality stands.

Barcelona normally means a suitcase full of shorts, but the cold weather across Europe gave MWC 18 an unusual fresh feel! The snow fell on-site in February (a first for us in Barcelona) and we braved the cold. The stand went up in record time, along with the fit outs of 3 feature executive meeting rooms in Hall 5.

Following our time in Barcelona, we enjoyed an early sunny start in West London for this 4 day build at Olympia.

The show was in March with unexpectedly good weather, keeping us dry and relatively warm, and I don’t think there was a happier team on site because of it. Our 12 x carpenters and 2 x decorators got the stand finished to perfection, working ardently (and with a smile) for the whole build of the project. I love being part of this team!

This was our 4th consecutive show in Shanghai for Sigmatex! I couldn’t help take a quiet moment to acknowledge that – I’m feeling immensely proud of our young business, which has come so far.

Tony our Project Manager took the 12+ hour flight to China and was on-site to meet the arrival of materials and structures for the installation. The show was a great success and our local build partner once again provided a great stand build and dismantle. Once the last bits had been packed away there was even a little window to do some exploring.

Shanghai is an unimaginable metropolis, a 24hr city, busy and beautiful - with food that provides a taste explosion, cool quirky bars and a really great metro to help with getting around easily. It’s certainly worth a visit and we’re so privileged to come here and work!

A first time for us at Southampton Boat Show, and we loved it. What a lovely setting down on the Solent in Mayflower Park.

Our skilled team turned this job around in 3 weeks, focused on achieving an incredibly high-quality finish. We were all delighted with the finished result and the show was a huge success for our client.

A 3rd consecutive Dmexco for us in Cologne. We arrived in style, taking the train from Frankfurt and travelling along the beautiful river rhine; and arriving into the Hauptbahnhof to be greeted with the amazing view of the Cologne Cathedral – a building of great magnitude and presence.

This was another fantastic turn-around from our team, who delivered a super on-time build, completed early, with time to spare. The show itself was also fast paced, running over 2 days, blink and it was all over. Luckily our creative team delivered some stand out designs that’ll definitely be remembered.

We are already making plans for 2019 @ Dmexco and we can’t wait.

Ah Roma! What an authentic and idyllic place! But as is often the way with exhibitions, we spent most of our days on-site and in exhibition halls.

We stayed on-site at the event hotel outside of the city centre, but missed out on the fun, hustle and bustle of the attractions. However, we certainly made up for it at this very busy annual event with over 900 attendees over 2 days. Our client was delighted with our design and full installation of event branding in the hotel, 15m x 15m sized stand, plus all the sponsorship feature areas too.

Note to self…must go back and be a tourist for the weekend!
